Le Louvre

Living about 10-15 minutes by foot from Le Musee du Louvre, you'd think I would have gotten around to seeing it again sooner, but convenience seems to breed complacency. At least, as of today, I have a date for the top of the Eiffel Tower, so look for that update in the future.
Anyhow, the idea of a guided tour of Le Louvre is rather amusing,
seeing as you could spend a whole day in one wing of three and still not see everything. It IS that big. However, as we streaked through the former residence of the French royalty since Catherine de Medici, we managed to see several famous masterpieces, and several less famous ones that really caught my eye as well. I have visited before, and was blown away by the Winged Victory of Samothrace, which is just as stunning now. Sonia and I both consider it our "favorite."
One of the most interesting things about the Louvre is how one leaves feeling sorry for many famous artists whose masterpieces have the misfortune of being displayed in the same room as, say, the Mona Lisa or the Venus de Milo. I could probably camp out in the Louvre for several days before I finally felt like I'd "seen it."
